Man Ray fait traduire son autobiographie

Belle lettre de Man Ray, à propos de la traduction de son autobiographie :

"[...] I like very much you have preserved the simple style I have written this chapter, of a young man in unfamiliar surroundings trying to find his way. I expect to finish my book in a couple of months. Of course, the translation will have to be finally approved by a French editor, after the english appears [...]". Il l'assure qu'elle restera sa traductrice.

À propos de leur appartement : "We do not hear any explosions-there were more in our old neighborhood, 'St. Germain-des-Pres). We do not mind the doves cooing below and the tenants have cleaned up the garden-looks like a little park. The Brauners [nom de jeune fille de sa femme Juliet] are still away. It is very quiet ! We love it here and are so used to the place it will be difficult to get adjusted to the studio again in the rue Ferou". Man Ray évoque un correspondant à Princeton, nommé Belz.

Il ajoute "Marie is keeping the flat in perfect shape. We do not give any parties [...]".

Il s'agit très probablement de son autobiographie, intitulée Self Portrait (Londres, André Deutsch, 1963) qui paraîtra en France en 1964, sous le titre Autoportrait (Paris, Robert Laffont, 1964).
