Très belle lettre d'Evie Hone, adressée à Albert Gleizes.

"I could not continue my ordinary life & painting  that I must test my vocation to the religious life. That is why I have not come out to Paris this year but to this couvent instead. [...] I tried seriously to find out whetter or not I was meant to lead this life or continue painting, it has been difficult. I do not know where the end lies but I could not be true to my painting anymore than to myself if I had but this idea away, so please do not think too badly of me. I am so grateful to you both for all. You have been & done for me & for the years in Paris [...]". Elle les y reverra peut-être et assure être avec Gleizes et sa femme par la pensée.

"I hope your painting will be more & more recognize in to true value. I know it must [...]". Elle décrit ensuite la vie au couvent, la mère supérieure, les novices, etc.

Evie Hone fut l'élève d'André Lhote et d'Albert Gleizes à Paris, durant sa jeunesse. Extrêmement pieuse, elle séjourna dans un couvent anglican, en 1925, à Truro, en Cornouailles.
