Le journaliste irlandais Robert Bell recommande dans les termes les plus chaleureux un comédien à Robert William Elliston : « Mr. Macarthy, who has recently been the manager of the Northern Circuit in Ireland, and who has for five or six years been an established favorite with the Dublin audience, is now in London and desirious of entering into an engagement at the Surrey Theatre. » Il loue la formation de cet homme et ses talents, un vrai gentleman. Bell souhaite lui présenter Macarthy au plus vite. Elliston possédait et dirigeait le Surrey Theatre où il joua quasiment jusqu'à sa mort, cette même année 1831. On joint une seconde lettre de Bell à un certain Mr. Parker (4 pp. in-8, incomplète de la fin).
